Mesopotamian legends has its roots in the ancient region of Mesopotamia, situated between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in present-day Iraq. Earliest Undercurrents:

The very earliest inklings of Mesopotamian religious thought are believed to have emerged in the sixth millennium BCE. This coincided with the time when people began to settle permanently in Mesopotamia due to improved irrigation systems.

Though he is first noted as an Akkadian god, from around 2600 – 2350 BC, shrines to Enki have been found which date back to 5400 BC! In the Enuma Elish, the Babylonian creation myth was found on ancient tablets. The universe was originally in a state of chaos. The chaos separated into fresh water, the male principle called Apsu, and salt water, the female principle called Tiamat. Apsu and Tiamat were the first gods and gave birth to Enki, their eldest child.
Akkadian/Babylonian mythology states the younger gods were made to do all the work to maintain creation, and grew tired of the daily grind. Not unlike some of the youth of today, they sought a way out of the hard work. As a result, they created other beings to do the work for them: humans. The humans were forged from the sacrifice of one of the younger gods. The gods became angered by humankind’s rowdy nature and their population explosion and sought to reduce their numbers. The main instigator of humankind’s extinction was the god Enlil. He tried to eradicate the humans firstly by drought and then by plague, but his plans were continually undermined by Enki.. Allegedly the gods are again angry with killing of millions of the human babies and have started great disasters.
Written Records and Cuneiform Tablets:
- Mesopotamian mythology was primarily preserved through stone or clay tablets inscribed in cuneiform script by scribes.
- These texts encompass a wide range of genres, including myths, epics, hymns, lamentations, penitential psalms, incantations, wisdom literature, and handbooks related to rituals and omens.
- Sumer, Akkad, and Assyria were the major societies where these works originated. These civilizations existed from around 3000 BCE and persisted until approximately 400 CE².
Creation legends:
- Mesopotamian legends features various accounts of the creation of the Earth. These narratives differ due to the diverse cultures within the region and the oral transmission of stories.
- Notable creation myths include:
  - Atra-Hasis: This myth revolves around the creation of humans by the goddess Mami to ease the gods’ workload. Later, a great flood threatens humanity, but Atrahasis builds a boat to save them.
  - Eridu Genesis: Similar to Atra-Hasis, this myth also centers on a flood event. The hero, Zi-ud-sura, survives and plays a crucial role in preserving mankind ³.
Influence on Biblical Tales:
- Many biblical stories, such as the Fall of Man and the Great Flood, are believed to have originated in Mesopotamian lore.
- These themes first appear in Mesopotamian works like The Myth of Adapa and the Epic of Gilgamesh, which is considered the oldest written story in the world⁴.

In summary, Mesopotamian legends emerged from a rich cultural tapestry, reflecting the beliefs, cosmology, and ideologies of ancient societies along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

Oannes alien god from underwater

Oannes: the Extraterrestrial God who gave his knowledge to humans…

Oannes, also known as Adapa and Uanna, was a Babylonian god from the 4th century BCE. It was said he appeared out of the ocean every day as a fish-human creature to share his wisdom with the people along the Persian Gulf. In daylight hours he taught them written language, the arts and sciences, then returned to the sea at night.

Oannes did not necessarily look like how we might picture a merman. Some artwork shows him to have a human torso and fish tail, but other materials (including carvings) show a human body with arms, legs and feet surrounded by the form of a fish. You could almost say it looked like a giant fish ‘costume’.

We know of Oannes mainly through the stories of a 3rd century BCE Babylonian priest and scribe named Berossus. Only fragments of his writings survived, so the tale of Oannes has been handed down mainly through the summaries of his writings by Greek historians. One fragment reads:

At first they led a somewhat wretched existence and lived without rule after the manner of beasts. But, in the first year after the flood appeared an animal endowed with human reason, named Oannes, who rose from out of the Red Sea, at the point where it borders Babylonia. He had the whole body of a fish, but above his fish’s head he had another head which was that of a man, and human feet emerged from beneath his fish’s tail. He had a human voice, and an image of him is preserved unto this day. He passed the day in the midst of men without taking food; he taught them the use of letters, sciences and arts of all kinds. He taught them to construct cities, to found temples, to compile laws, and explained to them the principles of geometrical knowledge. He made them distinguish the seeds of the earth, and showed them how to collect the fruits; in short he instructed them in everything which could tend to soften human manners and humanize their laws. From that time nothing material has been added by way of improvement to his instructions. And when the sun set, this being Oannes, retired again into the sea, for he was amphibious. In fact, the names of Oannes and the other six sages of civilization – the Apkallu – are engraved in a Babylonian tablet found at urus, the ancient city of Sumer (today the city of Warda in Iraq).

Berossus the Scribe Berossus wrote three books on the history and culture of Babylonia and was well thought of by later historians.

Is it possible then that there is some truth behind the story of Oannes the mermaid? Could it be that that mysterious figure who emerged from the sea onto the Babylonian shore thousands of years ago to enlighten mankind and bring civilization to the world actually existed? Or was Oannes, the all-knowing man-god in fish form, a way for Berossus to explain the mysterious genesis of civilization in terms people of his time would understand? Yet again, we see the concept of a merman/mermaid assisting humankind and being an object of reverence, so it is logical to assume that the connection with many other mermaid tales is not a mere coincidence.

Poseidon

Poseidon, in ancient Greek religion, god of the sea (and of water generally), earthquakes, and horses. He is distinguished from Pontus, the personification of the sea and the oldest Greek divinity of the waters. The name Poseidon means either “husband of the earth” or “lord of the earth.” Traditionally, he was a son of Cronus (the youngest of the 12 Titans) and of Cronus’s sister and consort Rhea, a fertility goddess. Poseidon was a brother of Zeus, the sky god and chief deity of ancient Greece, and of Hades, god of the underworld. When the three brothers deposed their father, the kingdom of the sea fell by lot to Poseidon. His weapon and main symbol was the trident, perhaps once a fish spear. According to the Greek poet Hesiod, Poseidon’s trident, like Zeus’s thunderbolt and Hades’ helmet, was fashioned by the three Cyclopes.

The acronym stands for Unidentified Submerged Object. In many respects, it is equivalent to UFOs (Unidentified Flying Object). While a UFO is that strange thing spotted in the sky, a USO is its equivalent in water.. The difference, however, is that it is found under the surface of a large body of water. Eyewitness accounts vary. Many describe a submerged discs… An unidentified submerged object (USO).

McGwire was conducting classified work aboard the USS Hampton submarine when he noticed a whizzing sound. The sonar onboard the submarine was able to determine that the unidentified submerged object (USO) was moving through the water at a rate that is faster than the speed of sound. McGwire explains that such underwater speeds should have crushed the underwater structure. McGwire adds, however, that it was as if the crew was just standing still. The encounter only went on for a couple of seconds. According to the professor, he urged the naval team to report the odd encounter. However, the team determined that doing so would hinder their mission. He adds that when he left with the knowledge without being told to be quiet or that it was classified, the knowledge was his to tell. Nevertheless, he adds that he would not talk about the submarine’s classified work. This odd incident took place during the late 1990s. However, the story was recently brought up by McGwire on the UAP Society YouTube channel. .The professor has not revealed what is classified work was on the submarine or his location. The attack submarine USS Hampton (SSN 767) is assigned to Submarine Squadron 11. The submarine is limited by its travel speed due to the water incompressibility at its front. Nevertheless, the USO was able to blow by it.

McGwire explains during the YouTube interview that someone with onboard system knowledge who was handling the sonar tech is said to have revealed that an object soared past the sub at a speed that was faster than that of sound. The travel speed of sound in water is incredibly fast. In fact, sound can move up to 3,330 miles per hour due to the extremely heightened density of water compared to air.

Unidentified Submerged Objects

Unidentified objects underwater are even in the Bible wen God sent a big fish, some call it a whale, to swallow Jonah and to save him from drowning. While in the belly of the big fish (whale), Jonah prayed to God for help, repented, and praised God. For three days Jonah sat in the belly and was released into good health.

Strange High Speed Underwater Crafft

Editor’s Note: A former student of mine who was a sonar operator aboard a sub claimed he frequently spotted high speed under water craft going up to 500 knots. He thought there must be some kind of bubble or force around the USO that pushes the water away. We have nuclear powered engines that only propel our subs at 35 Knots. Subs have a periscope with sensitive sensors (like laser range-finders, infrared, and visible light equipment) because while the submarine remains underwater it is still much more difficult to detect visually and by radar. Subs use both active and passive sonar and radar to locate targets and avoid obstacles.

Russia’s USO Secrets

Soviet books describes many weird incidences experienced by ordinary Soviet citizens and by military personnel involving contacts with alien beings and their ships. A few turned out to be deadly. All were strange and fascinating. There were a few reports I have never run across before in reading US or European UFO/USO documents and books.

Some incidences were astonishing such as when a Soviet sub detected a solid submerged object traveling 250 mph(!) then disappearing to great depths. Another, involves a sub that surfaced at night to get its bearings using the stars only to have a spherical object approach. The object projected a light-beam map of the Mediterranean Sea on the ocean’s surface in front of the vessel pin-pointing the sub’s position/location (as though reading the navigator’s mind) then disappeared;! In both cases above there were multiple highly reliable witnesses present. There are many more reports provided in the book.

Sonars and Radar

Most of the Soviet of the Soviet UFO/USO sightings in this book show patterns and characteristics similar to those observed world-wide: high speeds, flashing multi-colored lights, disappearing spheres, et al. Some of the UFOs were reported on radar but not visible to the eye (clear day), while others were visible to the eye but not detected by radar, both observers and their radar equipment were co-located.
What is interesting is that what has been observed in the Soviet Union is very similar to what has been experienced world-wide; a testimonial supporting UFO/USO authenticity; everywhere the same regardless of location, nationality, religion, or culture. Sources are provided by the authors.

But the subject of mermaids goes back a long time before Hans Christian Andersen, and far beyond the borders of Denmark. People have speculated about mermaids through the ages, and much art has been created showing what mermaids and their environment might look like. The point is that numerous sailors and ship captains claim to have seen half human and half fish that may have developed under the sea. It appears there is in fact an underwater civilization that has hundreds of statues around the world. It is doubtful statues would be made of fictional characters in such large number from dozens of countries unless there was truth in some of the stories. Mysterious UAP Sightings

According to Futurism, UFO whistleblower Ryan Graves, who is the co-founder and present executive director of Americans for Safe Aerospace, explained that while he served as a Naval pilot, he and his colleagues regularly observed craft off the Virginia Beach coast that had no observed propulsion. Graves adds that these could stay motionless even in hurricane winds that reach Category-4.
